***** Patchwork Kilims *****

Patchwork Kilims are made by taking pieces from many different old Turkish Kilims. For example; a patchwork kilim may contain parts from Balikesir, Canakkale, Cicim, Corum, Denizli, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Ushak kilims or more. This way with one patchwork, you can feel many different regions in Turkey and see different traditions of making kilim in harmony at the same time.

How is a Kilim Patchwork made?

We often travel through Anatolia to acquire vintage and old kilims, which are sometimes a hundred years old, from local places. Those kilims are first pass through a special cleaning procedure to be cleaned without wearing them out. Then they pass by a specialist to be repaired and restored.

According to the desired size, first a lower-base is prepared. Next, we cut parts from old kilims and handcraft them together with the lower-base after considering a proper color harmony or an intended design.

Each and every step of this process is handmade and realised by weavers and sewing experts.
